Day 3: The one that got away & Success !!!
The plan was to fish in the morning because the water is calm, it's quiet, and hope that the fish are active. Therefore, my sis and i woke up at 5:30 AM and start paddling the calm and clear water of Charleston Lake. This was the view that greeted us as we approached the shore...
Smokin lake
The water was sooo calm and clear we even can see the bottom of the lake. We paddled into a small bay where the water is shallow and covered underwater vegetation. And there was an Osprey's nest nearby with 3 juvenile ospreys. The nest was huge prolly1 m in diameter. We also saw watersnake swimming in search for dry land.
This time i used a top water lures similar to what the pros used and hoping to get a strike. I figured the disturbance on the water surface on a calm lake would entice hungry fish. It did. I got a violent strike to the lure however, the line breaks. This pissed me off so much cuz it was prolly a big fish that took the lure and now it prolly fled sumwhere, which i think it did cuz i didnt get a strike after casting the line over and over.
Still pissed about what happen we paddled around the lake looking for other opportunities to land the big one. After paddling and fishing around without success, we decided to return to the original spot earlier. Finally we saw a big bass hiding under fallen branches. I decided to ditch the lures and the fake plastic baits cuz the fish didnt pay attention to them. Instead i used a whole worm and hooked it at the head so that it still wriggles underwater and as a result,...
Took a nap afterwards and ended the day by the campfire gazing at the sky. And as usual, the fireflies came out to play
